with luna and aurora, we release our third and fourth album as complementary works.
stylistically, they employ a mixture of old and new elements. we have once again found a balance between melodicism and heaviness by combining black metal and post rock: guitar tremolos, blast beats and harsh vocals alternate with clean guitars, sidestick drumming and whispers, each accentuated by catchy piano melodies or spherical string harmonies.
we added more progressive elements such as unusual time signatures and rhythms, which were hinted at on rekonvaleszenz and which have now been fully elaborated on luna and aurora to interrupt the melancholic post-black-metal foundation in the right places. the vocals, which had always been varied, also show new facets to effectively present the german nature-loving lyrics.
in a way, the two albums can be pictured as yin and yang: while luna plays in winter and tries to develop more hopeful lyrical and musical moods out of a melancholic atmosphere, spring announces itself on aurora, but not without memories of frost and dreariness.

‘What else can I possibly say about the potency and sheer unabashed artistry of these two albums. Taken together, they do indeed present a tale of Yin and Yang, with two distinctive avenues that are separate, yet locked together in way that you can’t possibly get in between them. This second offering is indeed more melodic than the first, as spring brings more hope than winter. Consummate musicianship, and experienced songwriting are required to pull something off that is this ambitious, and they do, through what I am sure was a lot of hard work and dedication to their craft. I am awe-struck at how perfectly this was all put together.’

When diving into the opulent sound world, the removal of any stylistic blinkers seems very helpful. Here the band experiments blithely and offers a colorful mix that challenges the listener. Many small pieces of the puzzle interlock: moderate black metal, dreamy post rock, variable vocals and wonderfully gliding melodies.
Whoever gets involved in these two complementary works needs a lot of time, openness and patience, but will be rewarded with detailed compositions, if the pinch of weirdness and show-like theatricality can be tolerated or appreciated.

Nein, träumen von aurora verlangen ihren Hörern alles ab. Zumindest Offenheit und die Bereitschaft in einen ganz eigenen Klangkosmos einzutauchen. Das wird nicht jedem schmecken, ist aber eine musikalische Entdeckungsreise sondergleichen und in seiner Art herausragend. Tiefgründig, düster, schwarz, außerordentlich musikalisch und letztlich mit nichts zu vergleichen.’
